The IVF/ICSI Program

IVF Program

In vitro fertilization (IVF) means "fertilization in glass" or in the laboratory. IVF is a process by which egg cells are fertilized by sperm outside the body. The process involves hormonally controlling the ovulatory process, removing ova (eggs) from the woman's ovaries and letting sperm fertilize them in a fluid culture medium. Following fertilization and cell division, the embryo is then transferred into the patient's uterus with the intent to establish a successful pregnancy.

IVF involves seven main sequential steps:

  1. Ovarian Suppression or Downregulation of the Pituitary Gland
  2. Ovarian Suppression - Down Regulation - GnRH Agonist
    Conventional IVF Cycle Timeline
    Ovarian Suppression - GnRH Antagonist
  3. Ovarian stimulation (Superovulation)
  4. Egg retrieval
  5. Insemination and Fertilization Check
  6. Embryo Assessment and Development
  7. Embryo transfer and
  8. Luteal phase support / Early pregnancy follow-up
