Pre-IVF Screening RequirementsIn order to maximize pregnancy rates it is important to perform testing on both partners to ensure that the sperm, ovulatory and uterine environments are optimized. All of the test results are necessary and must be current (within one year of treatment). Female Screening Requirements: Blood Tests Day 3 (of un-medicated cycle) FSH and estradiol levels Pelvic ultrasound to rule out ovarian cysts, fibroids, polyps and hydrosalpinges (fluid filled tubes) Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) or hysteroscopy to evaluate uterine cavity and tubal patency. Male Screening Requirements: Semen Analysis (a sample produced at our lab is preferred) with antisperm antibody testing Blood tests for cystic fibrosis and karyotype may be required if the semen analysis shows low numbers and ICSI is required. Note: Additional tests and counseling are required for the use of donor sperm. IVF Evening Information Session IVF is a complicated process with many considerations. In order to fully inform our patients of these issues all patients (both partners) must attend an information session prior to the stimulation cycle. Sessions are held at the Coombs Lecture Theatre in the Foothills Hospital twice per month on a Thursday evening and are approximately 2 hours in length. A physician, pharmacist, counselor and a member of the nursing staff make presentations. Attendance at the session is required prior to the signing of the treatment consent forms. All consent forms require both partners’ signatures as well as a third party witness. Please register for the IVF evening session you wish to attend by calling (403) 284-5444 or by making your reservation in person with the receptionist at the Regional Fertility Program.
