Referral

Patients are accepted for treatment by physician referral only. Letters of referral may be faxed to (403) 284-9293. The usual wait for consultation for IVF is approximately two months and the treatment cycle will usually commence two to three months after consultation.

It is possible for couples wishing to have IVF at the Regional Fertility Program who live a long distance from Calgary to have a remote set-up. This entails a telephone consultation with one of the IVF physicians and subsequent pre-IVF testing at their home centre. For these couples who undergo a remote set-up it is not necessary for them to attend an IVF information night prior to initiation of treatment. Unfortunately, due to medical/legal coverage only Canadian residents can be accepted for treatment at the Regional Fertility Program.
