PCOS is a condition that can impact ovulation and can result in the production of higher than normal amounts of androgens (male sex hormones). PCOS is the leading cause of infertility affecting 5-10% of patients with ovaries. Additionally, PCOS can increase the risk of developing other conditions, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, liver disease, cardiovascular disease and endometrial cancer. While PCOS is a leading cause of infertility, it is also treatable.
