Financing IVF & Fertility Care

Putting Transparency First

We understand that the emotional challenges of fertility treatment can be compounded by financial concerns. Our commitment is to offer straightforward and honest communication, so you know exactly what to expect from the very beginning. While we cannot guarantee precise costs for each patient, we strive to provide full transparency on treatment fees and guidance on managing finances throughout your experience.

Understanding What's Covered

We’re pleased to offer a range of provincially insured services. Alberta Health Care covers consultations and most diagnostic tests, and out-of-province patients can take advantage of reciprocal coverage. We’ll always let you know about any testing or treatment fees up front so you can make informed choices with confidence.

Alberta does not currently cover fertility treatment fees, but some private or employer insurance plans may offer partial or full coverage for treatments and/or medications. Review your benefits package or consult your HR department to confirm your options and note any restrictions, such as waiting periods or coverage limits. Also, verify medication coverage with your insurer using the relevant Drug Identification Numbers.

Fertility Treatments: How We Help

While online guides for fees can be helpful, it's important to remember that fertility treatment costs are fairly consistent across Canada. When choosing who to partner with, we believe that patients should select their fertility clinic based on the experience and support of their care team, their individual treatment plan, and the quality of the laboratory —these factors truly make a difference on your journey to success.

General treatment fees are available to help support early informed decisions. Our Financial Concierge team can create personalized estimate(s) once your medical treatment plan has been determined.

Medical Expenses and Income Tax

Certain medical expenses may be eligible for consideration under the Income Tax Act. Medical costs, including fertility treatments, could qualify for a tax credit if they exceed a specified threshold. Individuals with a personal corporation may also be entitled to additional tax deductions when coverage is provided through a Private Health Services Plan (PHSP). It is advisable to consult a qualified tax professional or accountant to determine eligibility for any tax credits related to fertility treatments.

Financing and Resources

Affordability can be challenging for patients, so we offer guidance on financial planning and connect you with financing partners. The best loan option depends on your individual finances and treatment plan. RFP partners with trusted lenders like Beautifi, Credit Medical and Medicard by iFinance to help cover fertility care costs with manageable payments.
