Fertility Preservation Options
In some circumstances, a person’s ability to have biological children may be impacted. The Regional Fertility Program offers compassionate and individualized treatment options for patients considering fertility preservation.
There are many reasons someone may choose to preserve their fertility, including:
- Aggressive ovarian surgery
- Chemotherapy or radiation treatment
- Elective delay of childbearing or advancing age
- Gender-affirming care
- Post-vasectomy
- Progressive decline in sperm quality or quantity
- Testicular, pelvic, or prostate surgery
Fertility preservation options may include cryopreservation of oocytes (eggs), embryos, ovarian tissue, or sperm. The most appropriate approach will vary based on individual circumstances, and we encourage you to explore your options during a consultation with one of our physicians.
